Jettribe Race Recap: 18th Annual Yamaha IJSBA Mark Hahn Memorial Havasu 300
Posted by Jettribe Staff on 28th Feb 2022
The 18th Annual Yamaha IJSBA Mark Hahn Memorial Havasu 300 took place on Sunday after a 1-day weather delay. On Saturday 40 MPH winds churned up Lake Havasu into white caps so large the rescue boats could not launch. Conditions improved for the race Sunday, which saw racers compete on the grueling 10-mile lap course for the endurance champion title.
Jettribe's own Team Rider Ryder Wildeboer took first place with teammate Mike Killippenstein! The team completed 24 laps (3.5 hours plus 1 lap due to the race delay). Outside temps on Sunday only reached around 50-60 degrees, so it was a very cold 3.5 hours. Ryder's mom Trisha told us how proud she was of her son's accomplishment. This was only the 2nd time he has raced in a runabout class. Congrats to Ryder and Mike!
After all these years the Hahn can still throw surprises at you. Jettribe rider Mike Newman and teammate Mikey Martinez suffered delamination damage on the bottom of their race boat, limiting their run as sidesaddle riders to only 40 miles. This setback really shows how difficult it is to finish the race.
We hope everyone is icing their sore muscles and getting ready to get back to the water to train for the next race! Special thanks to the crew that braved the long weekend and weather to get the race going and keep everyone safe.
